Dani Pedrosa reached the pole postion during the qualifying session. The Spanish is followed by Casey Stoner, Nicky Hayden and Randy De Puniet. Valentino Rossi is only 17th because he lost control at the fast turn one and fractured three bones in his right hand. The next Ducatist Marco Melandri is 10th.

Casey Stoner on Ducati wins the 10th race in this season on the Malaysian GP circuit. The podium is completed by Marco Melandri (2nd)  and Dani Pedrosa on Honda (3rd). Valentino Rossi on Yamaha finished 5th.
